As more businesses attempt to make their practices more sustainable, the demand for professionals who have the skills to make companies more eco-friendly are expected to increase. Consequently, many campus-based and online schools are creating masters programs that can train students for careers in environmentally driven fields, such as conservation.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 2,200 conservation science positions are expected to created over the next eight years. Students who have earned masters degrees in industries such as marine conservation may have better chances of landing these jobs.

Graduate programs in this sector are on the rise, as a New York-based school recently announced the launch of a new masters-level course of study in marine conservation and policy.

Individuals who enroll in similar programs will address issues such as marine science, marine conservation biology, communications, quantitative analysis, marine management, law, economics and policy. Graduates of these courses of study may be qualified to work at government agencies, environmental consulting firms, nonprofit organizations, law firms, communications companies or in educational settings.
