As the demand for healthcare managers with their nursing licence RN continues to grow, many campus-based and online colleges are working to make higher education more accessible to medical professionals.

In response to a nursing shortage in South Carolina, one school recently created two new graduate-level programs that are intended to benefit working nurses, The Post and Courier reports.

Nurses who have already earned a bachelors degree in the field can now earn a masters of science in nursing degree online, according to the news source. Furthermore, associates degree candidates can take bachelors-level classes at the school in order to expedite their path to a masters degree.

Online college programs may be ideal for working nurses who wish to obtain a higher position in their field without stunting their career development. Because these courses of study enable students to complete their schoolwork on their own time, they can hold onto their current jobs while they work toward a degree.

Professionals who hold masters degrees in nursing could see a great deal of career opportunities in the coming months, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that approximately 45,400 jobs will be created in medical and health services management over the next eight years.
